What is Confirmation of Payee (CoP)?
To help protect our members from fraud, scams and mistaken payments, we’re launching Confirmation of Payee (CoP) in 2025 — a new security feature that adds an extra layer of protection when you’re sending money to a BSB and account number.

    How it works
When you enter someone’s BSB, account number, and account name — either for a new payee or when updating details — CoP will automatically check if the name matches. Based on that check, you’ll receive one of the following match outcomes:
- Match
- Close Match
- No Match
- Error
What do the match outcomes mean?

						Match
This means the details you’ve entered match the bank records of the intended recipient.

						Close Match
This means the name is similar but not an exact match. You’ll be shown the actual account name and you can decide if you want to proceed with the payment or not.

						No match
This means the name does not match. This may indicate an error or potential scam, and you should stop and review the payment details carefully.

						Error
This means the service could not confirm the account details you entered match.

What you need to know about Confirmation of Payee (CoP):
- When it’s coming: CoP is scheduled to be released in November 20251
- How it works: In your current Mobile Banking App (version 4.9.0), CoP is enabled via a weblink. When you click Pay Anyone, the weblink will open a secure Internet Banking webpage that will enable CoP for new and updated existing Payees. Clicking “X” will return you to the home page in the Mobile Banking App.
- What you need to do: Confirmation of Payee will automatically start working when it’s enabled. You don’t need to do anything.
- The next release of the Mobile Banking App: The upcoming release of the Mobile Banking App (version 5.0.0) will include CoP built directly into the app. To ensure you don’t miss out, make sure automatic updates are enabled on your device – or update the app manually once it becomes available in November1. Keep an eye out for announcements about version 5.0.0 in both your Mobile Banking App and Internet Banking over the coming weeks.
