White Ribbon Day is the 25 November 2016. Police Bank are supporting a number of initiatives with White Ribbon in the week beginning 21st November to support this cause. The White Ribbon Campaign, invites men to make a difference by swearing an oath “never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women”. This is a initiative that is well supported by the Police community as violence against women is something Police are involved with daily.
Assistant Commissioner Mark Murdoch, NSW Police Force Corporate Spokesperson for Domestic Violence, said police are encouraged to share and promote the White Ribbon Oath. “Given the highly significant role that police play in the investigation, management and prevention of domestic violence, every day should be White Ribbon Day for us.” “Violence against women should not be tolerated. By wearing a white ribbon and promoting the message that police swear never to commit, excuse or remain silent about violence against women, we can encourage victims to come forward and end the cycle of violence.”
Our CEO Tony Taylor together with a number of staff will be participating in the walk from Randwick to Coogee on Friday 25th November. We’ll also have our Police Bank coffee trailer at the finish line in Coogee for anyone needing a morning coffee fix.
