In 2009, mother of two and ex-Police Officer Francine Sammut was diagnosed with Breast Cancer aged just 30. This required a full removal of the left breast and subsequent chemotherapy. In 2012, Francine discovered that the cancer had spread and an emergency hysterectomy was required. Francine has undergone 42 rounds of chemotherapy since the initial diagnosis, but has sadly found out that the cancer is terminal. Francine is continuing to undergo chemotherapy every 4 weeks and has promised to continue the fight until the very last day.
As part of the Breast Cancer Network of Australia Inspire group, Francine is hoping to travel to the United States in October to take part in a 7 day hike of the Grand Canyon with fellow breast cancer sufferers.
A GoFundMe account page has been set up for the sale and auction of items and the money raised to go toward Francines’ costs for the trip.
A second account will be set up under the BCNA ‘Inspire’ title to cover the required $4000 fundraising goal.
