The South Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club run the Bush to Beach program which brings 40 disadvantaged Aboriginal children and 8 Elders from Brewarrina, Bourke, Weilmoringle and surrounding towns to the beach for 4 days. The program is a reward for good school attendance, respecting the Elders and Police in their towns.
The aim of the program is to show the children life outside of their little towns, build their confidence and have them in a positive environment. They become members of the Surf Club, interact with other Surf Club members and children and learn First Aid and CPR. The skills they learn here they can take back to their towns. It is a great way to encourage and support the children.
